Committee on Radio Astronomy Frequencies

The Committee on Radio Astronomy Frequencies (CRAF) is a committee of the European Science Foundation (ESF).

Status of interference problems in Portugal:

Radio observatory operating in Portugal:

In Portugal many frequencies between 150 and 650 MHz are used. These frequencies are of interest for the Espiunca radio observatory.

Radio astronomical quality of the band:

complex - ranging from useless to rather good.

Reason:

Many observations are done outside frequency bands allocated to the Radio Astronomy Service.

Applications of the following radiocommunication services cause interference problems:

Aeronautical Radionavigation Service.

Broadcasting Service.

Fixed Service.

Mobile Service.

Radiolocation Service.
